When the lights came on and we walked out of the cinema, our emotions remained unsettled for a long time, as if still shrouded in the heavy, dark shadow of history depicted in the film. In an extremely shocking manner, this movie recreates the countless atrocities committed by the Japanese Imperial Army's Unit 731 during its invasion of China, allowing us to transcend time and face directly that era filled with bloodshed, tears and humiliation.

In the film, the base of Unit 731 is like a living hell. Inside the dim and eerie laboratories, various instruments emit a cold, piercing glow. Innocent people, labeled as "marutas" (literally "logs" in Japanese, a dehumanizing term used by Unit 731 to refer to their human test subjects), were reduced to living materials for the Japanese army's inhumane experiments.

During the frostbite experiments, the victims were forced to expose themselves to extreme cold. Their limbs gradually stiffened and turned black, yet the Japanese soldiers indifferently tapped them with wooden sticks to test the degree of frostbite. The heart-wrenching screams of agony seemed to transcend time, echoing constantly in our ears. In the poison gas experiments, the sealed chambers instantly became death traps. As toxic gas filled the space, people struggled and convulsed wildly inside; their desperate cries for help were ruthlessly drowned out. Then there were the utterly inhumane vivisections—scalpels sliced freely through living bodies, and lives faded away amid endless suffering, while the Japanese soldiers stood by, recording calmly with no trace of compassion in their eyes.

Every frame of these scenes is deeply distressing, and every moment fills one with anger. The atrocities committed by the Japanese army have already crossed the line of human conscience, laying bare the ugliest side of human nature for all to see.

Unit 731 is more than just a movie; it is like a sharp scalpel that precisely cuts open the festering wound of history, allowing us to see the past pains and sufferings. We must firmly defend the truth of history, keep this period of history deeply engraved in our minds, and pass it on to future generations.
