Remember History, Co-Create the Future: Team Building Viewing of Nanjing Photo Studio
To enhance team cohesion, employees’ spiritual literacy, and the company’s sense of social responsibility, Pinto organized a team-building activity—a collective viewing of Nanjing Photo Studio.
As the lights in the screening room dimmed, Shen Ao’s Nanjing Photo Studio acted like a historical chisel, carving a blood-streaked tunnel through time between Nanjing in 1937 and us in 2025. This was no ordinary team-building pastime; it was a collective spiritual baptism that struck straight to the soul.
Red Light in the Darkroom: Illuminating the Flickers of Humanity
The darkroom of the photo studio transforms into a spiritual lighthouse amid the blood-streaked purgatory in the film.
We witness:
Old Jin, played by Wang Xiao, trembling as he develops film negatives, with images of Japanese military atrocities emerging menacingly in the developer. His hunched back resembles the stubborn bend of a nation’s backbone under crushing weight.
Wanyi, the little girl played by Yang Enyou, smiles through tears in front of the family portrait backdrop, where the shattered landscape behind her and her innocent smile form a heart-wrenching montage.
Achang, the postman played by Liu Haoran, roars out Nanjing’s place names: “Yuhuatai! Zhonghuamen!” turning photos into spears to strike at the invaders—what these ordinary people guarded with their lives was far more than film negatives; it was civilization’s ultimate testimony against barbarity.
In the darkness, I heard suppressed sobs echoing all around. When the interpreter played by Wang Chuanjun tore up the “friendly photos” in a mental breakdown, the cinematography told us: True courage is not roaring, but the instinct to safeguard kindness even in the abyss.
Seven People, Two Passes: A Wartime Mirror of Team Spirit
Trapped in the photo studio, seven people faced a cruel choice: two passes meant five would meet their deaths. This "microcosm of human nature" revealed to us:
As the screen faded to scenes of the motherland’s landscapes, and the shot of the seven characters taking a tearful family photo appeared, the audience could no longer hold back their emotions, tears streaming freely. In that moment, we suddenly understood: True team cohesion has never been about toasting and clinking glasses at a dinner table, but the resonance of shared values deep within our souls.
Developing the Present: The Spiritual Spark After the Team Building
As the film ended, the lights flickered on like the opening of a historical darkroom. We witnessed:
Some silently wiping their glasses to hide tear stains
Some gazing long at the list of victims scrolling in the end credits
More exchanging glances of understanding in the silence
Stepping out of the theater, the city’s neon lights felt like an extension of the darkroom’s red glow. Every team member
became a "walking era photo studio," developing in their respective roles:
Developing the negatives of business with integrity
Freezing moments of struggle with professionalism
Focusing on the warmth and coldness of human life with kindness
This special team building event had no game cheers, yet it achieved the most profound spiritual bonding amid tears. We at
Pinto will take history as a mirror, bravely shoulder our responsibilities, and contribute to social development through practical
actions, ensuring that justice and hope shine forever. We firmly believe that only when "Chinese products" become synonymous
with "high quality" can we truly break down prejudices and barriers in the international market, allowing Chinese brands to stand
tall and proud in global competition.
